Dr. Blase Carabello, MD is a cardiovascular researcher and clinician whose work has appeared in more than 500 medical journals, books and editorials. Dr. Carabello earned his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine and completed his residency in internal medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital and cardiology fellowship at the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital of Harvard Medical School.

He was the recipient of the American College of Cardiology Distinguished Scientist Award and the Harriet P Dustan Award for Contribution of Science to Medicine. Dr. Carabello has served for 4 years on the FDA, demonstrating his expertise in medical regulation and patient safety.

He is a past president of the Society for Heart Valve Disease and also of the Association of University Cardiologists. He is a member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation, reflecting his standing among the nation's top medical researchers.

Dr. Carabello is currently the program director for the Valve Program at Roper St Francis Hospital, Charleston SC. His extensive medical expertise and understanding of complex healthcare systems provides invaluable insight to Friends of Fisher House Charleston as we support families navigating medical treatment.
