If a suite is available, the house team will contact you with arrival instructions, parking details, and what to expect during your stay.

If the house is full, staff will work with you on alternate arrangements, including nearby hotel lodging when available.

Is Your Family Eligible to Stay?

Families may be eligible when their veteran is receiving care through the VA and they need to remain nearby during treatment. Eligible guests include family members, designated caregivers, and other support persons approved by the treatment team.

50+ Miles from the VA

Your family must reside at least 50 miles from the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center to qualify.

Veteran Receiving VA Care

The veteran must be actively receiving qualifying treatment through the Ralph H. Johnson VA Health Care System.

VA Team Referral Required

A social worker, case manager, or VA provider must submit the referral on your behalf.

Independent Living Environment

Guests must be able to stay safely in an independent living environment without medical supervision.

Final room decisions are made by the Charleston Fisher House team based on eligibility, availability, and medical need.
