Kyle Carpenter
After leaping on a grenade in Afghanistan to shield a fellow Marine, Kyle Carpenter was gravely wounded and faced a long, difficult road to recovery. Throughout that time, his parents were able to remain by his side—thanks to the Fisher House, which provided them with free lodging near the hospital.
Fisher House gave the Carpenter family a true “home away from home” during their darkest days, lifting the burden of hotel costs and logistics so they could focus fully on Kyle’s healing.
Today, Kyle is a Medal of Honor recipient and a proud supporter of Fisher House. He even helped break ground at the Charleston Fisher House, giving back to the very community that stood by him.
