The second annual Fisher House Freedom Ride, set for Saturday, August 29, was canceled the day before the event because of weather. The ride has been rescheduled for Saturday, October 10, 2026.

The call came after conversations with the Summerville Police Department, whose Traffic Safety Unit provides the escort for the ride. With rain in the forecast overnight and into Saturday morning, the recommendation was clear: a police-escorted group ride in those conditions isn’t a risk worth taking. Low Country Harley-Davidson agreed, and we notified riders, volunteers, and partners the same afternoon.

Nothing else about the ride changes. Registration opens at 10:00 AM at Low Country Harley-Davidson, 4707 Dorchester Road in North Charleston, and kickstands go up at noon. The escorted route ends at Over the Horizon Brewing for an after-party from 1:00 to 5:00 PM, where Over the Horizon will donate a portion of food and beverage sales back to the Fisher House. Registration is $20 for riders and $5 for passengers.

Every dollar raised supports the veteran families who stay at the Charleston Fisher House while a loved one receives care at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center — always free of charge.
